Santa Maria Assunta is an impressive 14th-century Romanesque church located in the beautiful Tuscan walled town of Monteriggioni, Italy. A perfect highlight of the charming northern township surrounded by green hills, the church dates back to the rule of Giovanni Visconti, archbishop of Milan from 1354 to 1378. The interior and exterior of the church are decorated with a unique combination of Romanesque and Baroque styles. Inside, you can find a variety of religious frescoes, sculptures, and paintings. While the outside is adorned with a square bell tower, a beautiful loggia with stone columns, and a red-tiled roof. While you visit, don't forget to take a look at the nearby 16th century castle with its high walls, which were built by the Florentines.
