Santa Maria Assunta Church is an iconic symbol of Casole d'Elsa, a town situated in the province of Siena in Tuscany, Italy. It was built in the 11th century in the Romanesque style and later modified in the Gothic style. One of the church's most interesting features is its fresco depicting the Virgin Mary and Child which dates from the 13th century. The church also boasts a 13th century pulpit and other sculptures in marble and terracotta from the same century. Inside, one can admire its 19th century organ and frescoes from the 16th century. The view from its bell tower is breathtaking and offers an opportunity to admire the Tuscan countryside. Make sure to check out its beautiful cloister, complete with an ancient well.
