The Sanctuaire Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is a breathtaking Catholic Shrine located in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, near Québec City in Canada. Named a Major National Shrine by the Catholic Church, the basilica welcomes millions of pilgrims and visitors each year. Built in 1658, the basilica is dedicated to Saint Anne, grandmother of Jesus, venerated for her gift of faith and miracles attributed to her. In the sanctuaire you can find a covered bridge over the St. Lawrence, two towers, the grotto, the garden of virtues and healing springs, and of course the basilica. Inside the basilica, visitors can appreciate the wood carvings, stained glass and two beautiful organs. There are chalets, a museum and a gift shop, and a path with the 14 stations of the cross, allowing for beautiful scenery of the river below. The Sanctuaire is still a popular pilgrimage site; come to explore and admire its architecture, and learn about the history of faith in Canada.
