San Paolo Maggiore is a Renaissance-style church located in Bologna, Italy. Constructed in 1513, the church has a Baroque façade with bronze doors by Alfonso Lombardi. Inside, you'll find a beautiful ceiling fresco by Lodovico and Annibale Carracci, along with a large cupola dome. There are also many works of art and sculptures throughout the church. The church is also known for its 15th-century Cosmatesque pavement, made up of white and black marble. San Paolo Maggiore also has a rich history; it was once used by the Jesuits and at one point housed a number of storied artworks. Visitors to this site must leave a small donation at the gift shop to help preserve the church for future generations.
