The Salt Lake Temple sits in Temple Square, a 10-acre (4.0 ha) complex located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. It is the centerpiece of a vibrant residential and business area of the Salt Lake Valley and a major religious, cultural and architectural symbol of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With six spires, and 162,000 stones that weigh in at over 3 million tons. The temple is 156 feet (48 m) tall and designed and constructed in the Greek Revival architectural style. Guided tours of the Salt Lake Temple are available Tuesday to Saturday. The grounds of Temple Square are open to visitors seven days a week. Inside the temple, visitors can admire a marble statue depicting Jesus Christ in the center of a grand interior. A painted mural on the spires depicts Jesus descending from heaven in his resurrected form.
