Salon de Embajadores - From Real Alcázar de Sevilla, SpainU@tompodmore86 - UnsplashSalon de Embajadores📍 From Real Alcázar de Sevilla, SpainSusa is an important archaeological site in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province, believed to have been occupied continuously since at least 3000BC. Though the exact origins of Susa (also known as Shush, or Shushan) remain unknown, it is believed to have formed an integral part of the Sumerian and Elamite settlements in the area. It was in Susa that the Achaemenid Empire was founded in the 6th century BC, and would go on to become the largest empire of its time. The ruins of Susa testify to its impressive history - with the Acropolis and Royal Tombs, the Apadana Palace, the Ville Royale, and many other great monuments that can still be explored today. The clay tablets found at this site have revealed a wealth of information about the history and people of Susa. Visitors can climb up the Acropolis to admire the tall columns and ceremonial staircases, or explore the Royal Tombs, an amazing cluster of royal tombs and palaces built between 600 and 300 BC. Many beautiful and impressive artifacts can be found here, like the monumental statues, terracotta reliefs and stone reliefs. Susa also offers its visitors a number of interesting museums, like the Susa Museum and the Millenarian Museum.🗺 MapShow on Map🎫 Tourist attractionsCheck tourist attractions nearby🏨 HostelsCheck hostels nearby🌦 Weather informationGet weather information, and much more, from the app. Download it for free!🚕 How to get there?Get routes information (by car, walking, public transport, etc), and much more, from the app. Download it for free!
