The Saline della Laguna Marsala is a spectacular nature site near the city of Marsala in western Sicily. The lagoon, held within the boundaries of a Wildlife Reserve, is an important wetland formed by saltwater that is a home for a variety of bird species and also used for salt production. The dirt tracks stretching across the lagoon are picturesque and offer striking avian scenes along with many other scenic views of the local fauna. Pack your binoculars and walking shoes for an easy hike around the lagoon and its unique surroundings. As for taking photos, the route of the lagoon will provide many opportunities to snap amazing pictures of the area, from its countless flocks of flamingos, to the wild and unruly local terrain, to the charming and colorful fishing boats in the distance.
