Sainte Marthe is an ancient castle located in Tarascon, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France. Built during the 12th century, this castle saw many changes throughout its 700+ years of history. While most of its original structure is now gone, its ruins remain a fascinating reminder of what once was. The castle stands atop a cliff, providing spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors to Sainte Marthe can explore the ruins, including its two remaining towers and the remains of its drawbridge. For those interested in history, a short walk from the castle leads to the Church of St. Mary, an excellent example of a 13th century Romanesque building. Nature lovers will find plenty of interesting flora and fauna present in the area. The property is also a great place for a picnic or a leisurely stroll, with plenty of shaded spots to relax. Tarascon is a charming village located along the banks of the Rhone River, making it a great starting point for a visit to Sainte Marthe.
