📍 From Inside, France
The Sainte-Cécile Cathedral of Albi, located in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France, is a stunning example of 13th-century southern French Gothic style. The building is made out of brick, stone and terracotta, making it the largest brick building anywhere in the world. On the inside, visitors are wowed by the generous use of sculpture, incredibly vivid stained-glass windows, and detailed wall-paintings, including a Last Judgment. Of special note are the intricate carved capitals adorning the columns, as well as the painted Stations of the Cross along the southern wall of the nave. The Chapel of the Giants, built in the 15th century, rounds out the magnificent interior. Outside, visitors can take breathtaking photos of the vast, light-colored walls, surrounded by the lush greenery of the Tarn River. A must-see in the region, the Sainte-Cécile Cathedral is a great destination for travelers and photographers alike.
