Saint Paul de Mausole is an old asylum just south of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in Provence, France. Founded in 1247, the hospital was a haven for the mentally ill during the Middle Ages. In the early 1800s, it was converted into an asylum, and in the late 19th century, it was occupied by the painter Vincent van Gogh. The building has been preserved and stands today as a memorial and museum. Visitors to Saint Paul de Mausole can wander the grounds, explore the grounds and buildings, and view works of art by residents of the asylum. The grounds are also home to lush gardens and tranquil groves of olive trees. The grounds of Saint Paul de Mausole offer a fascinating look into the past and provide a peaceful oasis in the middle of the charming French countryside.
