📍 From Rue Kéréon, France
The Saint-Corentin Cathedral in Quimper, France is an impressive and stately structure built in the late 17th century. The foundations of the building are considered to be among the oldest in the world, dating back to the 12th century. The exterior of the building is decorated with intricate stone carvings, such as the large central window and its two towers. Inside, the vast interior is filled with stained glass windows, ornately decorated templon, and a huge organ from 1896. An architectural highlight is the Gothic-style transept and its 15th century choir stall. While not as grand inside as its exterior might suggest, it is an awe-inspiring place to explore. Visitors are also obligated to appreciate the external artistry of the site, including the sculptured Madonnas and angels that decorate the facade. Make sure to put some time aside to explore the grounds and gardens around the cathedral too.
