Sacro Bosco, or the 'Sacred Wood' is a 16th century park and one of the strangest and most mysterious attractions in Italy. Situated in Bomarzo in the Lazio region, this unique landscape was created by Italian prince Vicino Orsini, who sought to outdo the beauty of the Italian Renaissance gardens. A visit to Sacro Bosco is like no other. Its mysterious atmosphere, rich sculptural details and hidden symbols captivate visitors from all over the world. The park is home to a variety of mythological creatures, monuments and tombs, which were carved from the hill. The centerpiece of the park is a large rock pyramid statue of Orsini himself.
