The Sacré-Coeur Basilica (French 'Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus') is a Roman Catholic Church located at the summit of Montmartre Hill in Paris, France. Its iconic white façade stands over a spectacular view of the city. It was designed by architect Paul Abadie and constructed between 1875 and 1914. It is one of the most widely visited monuments in Paris, and offers many photo opportunities. Inside the church, one can find several frescoes, including watercolor copies of masterpieces from the 19th century. The Sacré-Coeur also contains a church bell tower which is open to the public. The panoramic view from the tower is breathtaking. The basilica grounds are well-kept and a perfect place to wander and relax. During the summer months, Parisians and visitors alike flock to the surrounding gardens.
