📍 Spain
The ruins of the Carmelita Convent of the Desert of Palmas are a National Monument in Castelló province, Spain. Located in the Desert of Palmas Natural Park, the ruins are all that remains of a convent built in 1684. The prevailing styles in the building are Baroque and Neoclassical. The rectangular structure of the church is composed of four bays with a portico on the north and south sides. Inside, the painted vaults and walls are visible, as well as the baroque altar. Sadly, despite the beauty of this building, a wildfire destroyed the convent in 1999, leaving only these ruins. Visitors to the site can admire the beauty of the architectural remains. There is also a viewpoint with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
