📍 Belgium
Rue du Cardinal Mercier is a short street beside Brussels Central station, close to the historic city centre and the Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula. Its name honours Désiré-Joseph Mercier, the Belgian cardinal whose outspoken opposition to German occupation during the First World War made him a prominent symbol of national resistance.
