The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is a complex of royal buildings and structures used for royal ceremonies, religious ceremonies, and royal entertainment. It also serves as a home for the King of Cambodia. Visitors to the Royal Palace can wander the grounds and explore the watchtowers and halls, as well as the Silver Pagoda, which is home to one of the country’s most important Buddhist artefacts. The Royal Palace is a stunning display of 19th century Khmer architecture and is sure to be a highlight of any visit to Phnom Penh. Inside, visitors will find beautiful murals and gilded halls, as well as sacred sculptures of Buddhism and Hinduism throughout the Palace. The grounds also include a botanical garden and a small zoo, amongst many other attractions. Don’t miss the towered gateway entrance and the refreshing pond filled with lotus flowers. The Royal Palace is open to the public daily and entrance is free.
