📍 From Government Gardens, New Zealand
Rotorua Museum occupies the former Bath House in Government Gardens, near the shore of Lake Rotorua. Opened in 1908 for geothermal bathing and treatments, the building reflects the city’s history as a spa destination. Its Tudor Revival façade stretches across the gardens in a sequence of steep gables, dark timber detailing and pale walls. The broad lawns and flower beds leave its long, balanced outline in full view—a distinctive contrast between formal architecture and Rotorua’s geothermal setting.
