Rote Klippen Helgoland is an especially photogenic spot located on an island in the North Sea, Helgoland, a German territory. Here, you will find spectacular red limestone formations, created by erosion due to strong winds and high tide. The intricate layers are reportedly formed by fissures in the rocks, of differing widths and depth, which along with the difference in color between the softer and harder portions of the limestone creates a unique interplay. The Rote Klippen can be viewed from the viewing platform on the island’s highest hill and from the nearby viewing tower. But, to really appreciate its beauty, it is advisable to make a boat journey around the island.
