📍 Romania
Built in a neoclassical style, Romanian Athenaeum is an iconic concert hall in the heart of Bucharest. Its distinctive red dome and cupola make it one of the most recognizable landmarks in the country. Founded in 1888 by a group of famous Romanian intellectuals, the Athenaeum serves as a permanent home to the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and is considered a symbol of Romania's cultural heritage and of its capital. The building is a prominent example of late 19th-century European architecture, and is very popular amongst tourists and locals alike. Every year, the grand entrance hall hosts prestigious events such as the George Enescu International Festival & Competition and the Bucharest International Theater Festival. Some of the many performances held in the building’s large main hall have featured some of the world's most renowned composers and soloists.
