The Rocca di Asolo is a medieval fortress crowning Monte Ricco, the wooded hill above Asolo’s historic center in Veneto. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, its massive stone walls form an irregular polygon, giving it the character of a defensive stronghold rather than a palace. It is distinct from the castle lower in town, associated with Caterina Cornaro, the former queen of Cyprus. The roofless enclosure and rough masonry create a stark silhouette against the sky, while the hilltop setting opens views across the rolling Asolo hills toward the Venetian plain. In wider photographs of Asolo, the Rocca is the recognizable landmark rising above the tiled roofs and wooded slopes.
