
River Cherwell is the principal river of Oxfordshire, England, and the name of the Cherwell local government district that covers Oxford and Abingdon-on-Thames. The River Cherwell runs for 59 miles from its source near Hell's Mouth in Warwickshire, across Oxfordshire and into the River Thames at Oxford. It is fed by many tributaries, over much of its course it is very shallow and can be easily crossed. The river is very popular with many people who enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and punting. Along its banks you can enjoy the beauty of quaint villages, as well as a variety of flora and fauna.
