The Brda is the modest river that threads through Bydgoszcz’s historic core, dividing the city and creating the green, waterlogged heart around Mill Island. Its role in local industry and transport is visible in rows of red-brick granaries, low iron bridges and the canalized channel that guided goods through the region; those elements give the cityscape a compact, working-waterfront character. Photographically, the Brda offers reflective, mirror-like surfaces in calm weather, strong horizontal lines from embankments and bridges, and seasonal contrasts — spring greenery and autumnal gold against brick textures, or winter fog and thin ice that soften urban geometry.
