Ritterklamm is a narrow sandstone gorge in Oybin, a village in Saxony’s Zittau Mountains known for its castle and monastery ruins. Where the ruins draw the eye across the landscape, the gorge brings the region’s rock formations close: weathered walls enclose the passage, and daylight reaches into the cleft from above. In photographs, the contrast between lit sandstone and deep shadow conveys the passage’s narrowness and scale.
