Rio Vilcanota Bridge
📍 From Railway, Peru
The Rio Vilcanota Bridge, located in the ancient Incan city of Urubamba, Peru, is an impressive stone arch structure that is still in use today. Constructed in the 19th century, the bridge spans the Rio Vilcanota and provides access to the many attractions of the Sacred Valley. Its curved pillars, constructed with huge stones without the aid of cement, belie the skill of its ancient builders. Nut tall, the bridge provides breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including vast vistas of the regional lanscape, traditional Incan terraced farmlands, and snow-capped mountains such as Salkantay and Ausangate. A great spot for visiting and admiration, the Villa Vilcanota Bridge is a reminder of Peru's ancient past.
