Rheinfall

Rheinfall is one of the largest waterfalls in Europe and is located on the High Rhine at the border of Germany and Switzerland. Known as the "Rheinfälle" in German, it is 23 meters (75 ft) high and 150 meters (500 ft) wide, and it generates an amazing amount of mist, giving it a fairytale-like atmosphere. Located in the town of Neuhausen am Rheinfall, it is easily accessible as it is just a few minutes away from Zurich by train. Tourists can admire the falls from the overlook on Laufen Castle’s terrace, located on the northern bank, or take a boat tour directly in the river. Explore the nearby castle of Schloss Laufen, and take a look at the old 12th and 13th century fortifications built to protect the bridge. There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby where you can enjoy a meal with a spectacular view of the falls.
