Reno's iconic Reno Arch is a major landmark in the city of Reno. The arch, which was erected in 1926, serves as an entranceway (or "gateway") to the city. It's located right on the south side of the Truckee River. The arch is 75 feet high and is made with sheet metal panels. It is decorated with several hundred white lightbulbs that light up surrounding Nevada and the Truckee Meadows. A 54-foot tall "Welcome to Fabulous Reno" sign is included in the bottom half of the arch. The sign was erected in 2008 to commemorate Reno's 100th anniversary. The Reno Arch is a popular tourist destination and is a great spot for taking a photo of the cityscape.
