Reiterdenkmal Friedrich Franz II is a war memorial located in the city of Schwerin, Germany. It commemorates King Friedrich Franz II who reigned between 1837 and 1842, and is located at the end of Schlosspark. This statue of the King mounted on a horse is over 28 feet tall, and is the first equestrian statue of its size to be erected in Northern Germany in the 19th century. It was created by Johann Gottfried Schadow and dedicated in 1841, with a grand ceremony. The memorial is a great display of early 19th century German sculpture, and a worthy sight set against the green backdrop of Schlosspark.
