📍 Croatia
Regenschirmgasse, German for “umbrella alley,” is an informal name for a lane in Novigrad’s old town distinguished by colorful umbrellas suspended overhead. Novigrad stands on a small peninsula on Istria’s western coast, and its compact historic center reflects centuries of Venetian rule. The umbrella display adds a contemporary layer to this older setting: viewed along the lane, the overlapping canopies form a bright, patterned ceiling, contrasting with the surrounding façades. The close-set buildings and narrow strip of street beneath them give the scene its intimate scale.
