Refugio de Góriz is a high-mountain refuge at around 2,200 metres in Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, within the municipality of Fanlo in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Set above the upper Ordesa Valley, it serves as a base for ascents of Monte Perdido and walking routes across the massif. The forested canyon below gives way here to open alpine grassland and pale limestone terraces, with horizontal rock layers shaping the surrounding slopes. The refuge’s compact buildings lend a human scale to photographs of this broad, largely treeless landscape. Access is on foot; the approach from Ordesa passes through the Circo de Soaso, beside the Cola de Caballo waterfall, before climbing to the higher ground around the refuge.
