📍 From Entrance, Iceland
Rauðisandur Church is part of a stunning landscape in the tiny hamlet of Saubaer on the remote northwest corner of Iceland. Rauðisandur Church is a small, brick-faced country church built in 1908. The exterior mixes traditional Icelandic features with a hint of north German architecture. Inside, there are intricately carved wooden benches and magnificent stained glass windows.Outside the church, there is a cemetery surrounded with wildflowers in spring and summer. The hamlet has survived centuries of harsh climate and remoteness to maintain its unique character. The views of stunning seascapes stretching as far as the north of the peninsula stretch as far as the eye can see.
