📍 Thailand
Ratchadamri Road is a major north–south avenue in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan district, running from the Pratunam area through Ratchaprasong to the edge of Lumphini Park. Its streetscape brings together large shopping complexes, luxury hotels and religious shrines, showing how commerce and everyday devotion share space in central Bangkok. At the Ratchaprasong intersection, the Erawan Shrine is dedicated to the Hindu deity Brahma; flower garlands and worshippers give this busy corner a character distinct from the surrounding glass towers. Farther south, the elevated BTS railway follows the road past Ratchadamri station, while the grounds of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club create an open, green break in the dense cityscape. These contrasting layers—shrines at street level, trains overhead and high-rises beyond—make the avenue recognizably Bangkok.
