📍 From Radioweg, Netherlands
Radio Kootwijk is a former telecommunications center located in the Veluwe region of the Netherlands, dating back to the early 20th century. It is an impressive example of Dutch industrial architecture, with the original buildings being designed by Elzik De Lauré. The site consists of three main buildings, the Operations Building, the Control House and the Gazebo, as well as 31 antennas standing tall amongst the site's historic forest. Radio Kootwijk is now a nationally protected historical monument, with the buildings and its surrounding grounds open to the public. Visitors here will have the unique opportunity to glimpse at the history of telecommunications in the Netherlands, with information boards placed around the buildings providing more insight. Radio Kootwijk is a great place to explore the varied nature in the Veluwe, as well as take a step back in time and admire the impressive, yet somewhat eerie architecture.
