📍 Iran
Dorfak Peak rises to about 2,730 metres above the village of Sidasht in Gilan Province, within the western Alborz mountains. It belongs to the dramatic transition between the humid, forested Caspian foothills and the exposed highlands of northern Iran. Dense broadleaf woodland on the lower slopes gives way to rocky ground and open mountain pasture, while the broad summit basin is associated with seasonal grazing and simple herders’ shelters. This pastoral landscape adds a human scale to the mountain’s sweeping contours. In photographs, Dorfak is distinguished by the contrast between its green lower slopes and bare upper terrain, with low cloud often layering the surrounding valleys and ridges.
