Qatar Flagpole, located in downtown Doha, is a 300 foot steel, marble-clad tower that was officially inaugurated in 2004 and serves as a national landmark of Qatar. The flagpole is a part of the vibrant downtown scene, with museums, parks, and public artworks nearby. A large plaza surounds the flagpole, which is perfect for taking a stroll. The National Museum of Qatar, founded in 2011, is a few minutes' walk away, and provides an important insight into the history and culture of Qatar. The museum houses a collection of archaeological artefacts, historic photographs, and historic and contemporary works of art. Visitors can explore exhibits dedicated to the history of the region, including the Bedouin way of life, the growth of Doha, the pearl trading era, and Qatar’s maritime history. The museum also hosts regular events and activities for all ages.
