
Puu Jih Syh Temple is a Chinese temple located in the east coast city of Sandakan in the East Malaysian region of Sabah. Constructed in 1971 to serve its Chinese residents, it is unique for its two-level structure and combination of various Chinese temples styles. It is dedicated to the goddess Mazu, as well as other gods from the Chinese pantheon. Puu Jih Syh Temple is especially renowned for its ornate interior, which is composed of colorful statutes of the gods, traditional Chinese designs, and features such as a grand entrance hall, a ceremonial altar, and a three-tier pavilion. The outside of the temple is also attractive, with its golden roof and the presence of various animals like tigers, roosters and dragons throughout the grounds. It is a peaceful place to visit and marvel at ancient Chinese art, culture and spiritual beliefs.
