Punta Campanella forms the outer tip of the Sorrento Peninsula, where the Gulf of Naples meets the Gulf of Salerno and Capri rises across the narrow channel. In antiquity the headland was associated with a sanctuary of Minerva, while a later coastal watchtower still anchors the rocky point. Its exposed limestone terraces, low Mediterranean vegetation and open sea create a stark foreground for views toward Capri, especially when the island’s cliffs appear in silhouette. The cape lies within the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area and is reached on foot from the Massa Lubrense side of the peninsula.
