Punakha Suspension Bridge spans the Po Chhu River near Punakha Dzong, linking the valley’s fields and settlements across a steep river corridor. The long pedestrian crossing is lined with multicolored Buddhist prayer flags, whose movement contrasts with the pale glacial water below and the forested slopes beyond. Its repeating cables and railings create strong symmetry from either entrance, while views from the center reveal the scale of the river valley and surrounding mountains. The bridge is also a working local route, shared by residents and occasionally livestock, rather than simply a scenic attraction.
