The Puente de Hierro (Iron Bridge) spans the Ebro River in Logroño in northern Spain and is one of the city’s most recognisable monuments. Designed by Logroño-born architect José Figueres Girones, the bridge was completed in 1992. It is an impressive steel bridge which measures 62 metres in length and 11 metres in width, with a total of five spans. The structure is held up by twelve pairs of pillars. The bridge can be crossed by a number of pathways, including by foot and by bike, and it provides great vantage points of the river and cityscape below. It’s a great spot for viewing gorgeous sunsets and is also where local carnivals and parties take place. The nearby Paseo del Parque is a great spot for a leisurely stroll as well as for bird watching.
