The Prinzipalmarkt towards St. Lamberti in Münster is one of the city’s most beautiful squares, located in the historical old town. On one side are the ancient buildings of the University of Münster and the Prinzipalmarkt itself full of cafes, bars and shops. On the other side is the famous Saint Lamberti church, with its Gothic interior and spectacular tower and onion dome spire. The Prinzipalmarkt is one of the best places for strolling along, shopping, sightseeing or simply enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the city. Dotted around the square are some beautiful sculptures, including the work of local artist, Dominikus Böhm. There’s also plenty of event space available, making this a great spot for live music performances during spring and summer. If you’re looking something more low-key, enjoy a coffee on one of the terraces or take a relaxing boat trip along the Aa river.
