Praia da Varandinha is a coastal bay on the southwestern shore of Boa Vista, Cape Verde, just seaward of the village of Povoação Velha. The spot is defined by a low promontory and ochre cliffs that curve into a crescent of pale sand and often brisk Atlantic surf, creating strong horizontal layers of rock, beach and sea. Erosion has cut caves, benches and striations into the headland, offering close-up textures and a dramatic cliff-top viewpoint that compresses scale between figures on the sand and the vast ocean. Light from the west sculpts the cliffs at low sun, and changing tides reshape foregrounds, making the site especially rewarding for compositions that emphasize color contrast, rhythm and geological detail.
