Prades is a compact medieval town in Catalonia’s Baix Camp that sits against the forested slopes of the Prades Mountains; its local nickname “Vila Vermella” comes from the ubiquitous red sandstone used in houses, arcades and the church. The town’s steep, narrow streets funnel views toward the Plaça Major and the stone façade and bell tower of Santa Maria, creating layers of warm color and strong geometric shadow.
