Praça do Comércio, arguably the most iconic square of Lisbon, is known since the mid-18th century under its previous name "Terreiro do Paço". As the city's central square, it is surrounded by historical landmarks, including the colorful Arco da Rua Augusta (Augusta Street arch), the historical and stunning Carmo Convent and azulejos-covered urban gardens. Visitors will be overwhelmed by the romantic atmosphere of the square, with its 18th century gilded statues watching it.
