Porto Grande (or Big Port) is a harbour area located in Mindelo, Cabo Verde. The area used to be a commercial port and it is nowadays a popular tourist destination. Built in the 19th century, the historical part of the harbour is a great spot to see colonial buildings, such as churches, warehouses and local art galleries. You can also find restaurants, cafes and several bars near the harbour. In this area you can also enjoy a variety of water sports, such as sailing, swimming, or fishing. Moreover, many cruises and excursions take place in this area, allowing you to explore the city and the islands of Mindelo. If you want to further discover the area, you can visit Cristo Rei, a park located near the centre, or Praia das Fontainhas, just a few minutes away from the harbour.
