Porto Cathedral, also known as Sé Catedral de Porto, is a magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral located in the city of Porto on the banks of the Douro River. It stands over 100m tall and dates back to the 12th century. Visitors to the cathedral can find carved stone entrances, a bell tower, an opulent Baroque interior, and stunning 16th century woodcarving. It is a notable example of Portuguese Romanesque architecture and one of the most important buildings in the city. You can also find the Treasury of the Cathedral, filled with religious artifacts, coins and jewelry, and other artifacts. Visitors have free access to the Cathedral's crypt with its ancient tombs, and there is a small chapel dedicated to St. Mary of Antigua where the body of the Blessed Virgin Mary was brought to the cathedral in 16 July 1617. While visiting, don’t forget to admire the impressive views of the river and city.
