Porta Santa, or the Holy Door, of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is only opened during Jubilee Years, typically every 5, 6, or 11 years. This intricately designed portal serves as a prominent pilgrimage destination and is located on the cathedral's east side, facing Plaza de la Quintana. During non-Jubilee Years when the door is sealed, the square still offers commanding photo opportunities framed by the cathedral’s baroque and Romanesque architectural fusion. Early morning or late afternoon light enhances the textures and details of the surrounding stonework. Nearby, the famed Botafumeiro thurible inside the cathedral can also provide dynamic interior shots if visiting.
