Porta del Recinto Baronale is a breathtaking defensive structure located in the northern tip of the Italian town of Peschici. It is a 15th-century gate that was built to protect the city’s inhabitants from foreign invaders. The entrance to the gate is flanked by two cylindrical towers, which are connected by a crenelated wall and an impressive double gate. It was once the home of a powerful local aristocrat, the Baron Pertini. Today, the gate is a popular tourist destination and an important example of Renaissance fortifications in the region. Visitors can tour the inner courtyard and climb up the towers for a panoramic view of the old town and sea.
