Porta d'Almenara is an ancient Roman gate located in Sagunt, Spain. This impressive gate was part of a wall that surrounded the ancient city of Saguntum and was built in the 1st century BC, probably during the time of Emperor Augusto. Its nearly faceted structure and arch shape is a remarkable example of Roman construction that has been preserved almost intact during all this time. The gate features two plain stone arched openings, with an ornamented archivolt on the outside and a semicircular pediment, decorated with pinnacles. Porta d'Almenara is a great example of the craftsmanship of ancient Roman engineers and a symbol of the history of Sagunt.
