Porta Castaldi marks an entrance to Feltre’s hilltop historic centre, above the lower town in the Veneto foothills of the Dolomites. The gateway belongs to the fortified setting that still defines the old town, where narrow streets lead towards Piazza Maggiore. Feltre’s streetscape combines medieval defences with Renaissance palaces, reflecting the rebuilding that followed the town’s destruction in 1510. The gate’s arched passage frames the street beyond, giving photographs a clear sense of the threshold between the outer town and the tightly enclosed historic core.
