Port Vell is Barcelona’s old harbor, where the historic center meets the Mediterranean at the foot of La Rambla. Once a working port, it was reshaped as a public waterfront around the 1992 Olympics. The Rambla de Mar pedestrian bridge crosses the harbor basin toward Maremagnum, while the Columbus Monument marks the city end of the waterfront. Along the quays, sailboat masts and their reflections bring the harbor’s maritime life into views of the surrounding city.
