📍 From Colline du Château, France
Port de Nice, also known as Port Lympia, is the city’s working harbor, tucked east of Castle Hill and the Old Town. Its development began in the 18th century, when Nice belonged to the Kingdom of Sardinia, and the surrounding ochre and pastel façades retain a distinctly Italianate character. Traditional wooden fishing boats known as pointus share the waterfront with yachts, while ferries connect Nice with Corsica. Along the northern quay, the columned façade of Notre-Dame du Port provides an architectural focal point above the moorings. At water level, colorful hulls, rigging and reflections create layered compositions; from Castle Hill, the harbor’s enclosed basin becomes clear, framed by terracotta rooftops and the rising slopes toward Mont Boron.
